Staff Bookkeeper

Job Summary:

Project Angel Food’s Staff Bookkeeper is an essential part of the Finance department and is integral in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.  The Staff Bookkeeper is responsible for organizational bookkeeping, preparing monthly financial statements, assisting in payroll processing, and tracking and maintaining departmental, organizational, and grant-specific budgets. Staff Accountant will assist in collecting pertinent data for third-party audits, assist in financial reporting, and be the first point of contact for accounting issues.

Duties & Responsibilities:
(Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Supervisor.)

Bookkeeping

  • Serve as primary organizational bookkeeper.
  • Record and post the day to day financial transactions, including AP, AR, and credit cards.
  • Reconcile bank statements on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile credit card statements on a monthly basis.
  • Support accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of invoice creation, coding, and entry.
  • Research and correct account discrepancies as necessary.
  • Record cash receipts and make bank deposits.
  • Accurately record payroll related expenses.
  • Maintain and reconcile petty cash account.
  • Record adjusting journal entries & expense allocations.
  • Record payables and receivables.

 

General Accounting

  • Lead the month-end close process.
  • Regularly maintain detailed schedules and reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts.
  • Work with the Development department to ensure that receivables are collected.
  • Issue and track invoices in collaboration with the Development department.
  • Ensure timely billing to vendors.
  • Maintain physical and electronic finance files.
  • Assist in the creation of organizational, departmental and grant specific budgets.

Audits/Filings

  • Provide support for organizational audits, including the annual audit, and audits from governmental institutions.
  • Provide support for annual tax return filing.

Reporting

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and analyses.
  • Prepare departmental budget vs actual reports.
  • Prepare budget reports as needed for grant reporting.

Qualifications: 

Required:

  • College degree in Accounting or Finance and/or 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and experience implementing GAAP adjustments.
  •  Experience working with QuickBooks.
  • Ability to understand financial reports.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • A team player and enjoys a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task/prioritize and meet deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Nonprofit accounting experience.

 

Compensation:

Salary range:

  • Hourly, negotiable based on experience.

Dishwasher

Job Summary

 The Dishwasher is responsible for washing dishes, cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and related facilities.

 Duties/Responsibilities

  • General cleaning of kitchen and washes all equipment including pots, pans, flatware, and glasses.
  • Correctly places and stores clean equipment, dishes, and utensils in assigned storage areas.
  • Assists with organizing serving stations, cupboards, refrigerators, and other assigned areas.
  • Cleans and empties trash receptacles.
  • May assist in cleaning and preparing various foods for cooking and/or serving, as directed.
  • Assists in maintaining kitchen supplies.
  • Ensures work areas remain safe, clean, and orderly, adhering to all company, local, and state guidelines regarding health, safety, and sanitation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

CHEF

Job Summary:

The Chef is responsible for daily meal production and kitchen work assignment for Project Angel Food.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and assist in the production of meals including prep, cooking and packaging meals.
  • Direct the proper opening, set up, and closing of the kitchen on a daily basis.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers in maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety in accordance with the agency Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Supervision and orientation and work of volunteers in the kitchen.
  • Preparation of food for in house meetings and other functions.
  • Responsible for the overall management of the kitchen at least one day per week including completion of daily food production schedule.
  • Delegation of work assignments to volunteers, chef trainees, kitchen assistants and dishwashers.

Abilities, Skills, and Qualifications

 

  • Culinary and food hygiene skills for volume meal production.
  • 1-2 years experience in high volume food production, such as schools or hospitals.
  • Ability to supervise and delegate work to staff and volunteers.
  • Able to endure physically demanding work such as lifting, standing, preparing, and cooking food for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work well in fast paced environment with a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work Sundays and holidays as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • SafeServ certified.

  • $17.50 hourly rate.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for assembling food product containers and packaging, and maintaining the kitchen and related facilities.

  • Seal and label containers with the appropriate materials with product information.

Part-Time Temp. Driver

Job Title:  Part-Time Temp. Driver 

Department:  Dispatch

Reports to:  Dispatch Manager

 

Job Summary

The Part-Time Temp. Driver is responsible for delivering meals to Project Angel Food clients

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver meals to clients on all routes that have been assigned
  • Report any problems with routes, deliveries and reporting client concerns
  • Keep accurate records of mileage, hours and other Dispatch paperwork
  • Maintain van and equipment

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, experience driving and reliable transportation
  • Excellent knowledge of Los Angeles County
  • Sensitivity to persons suffering with various critical illnesses
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, walk long distances and regularly lift or move items up to 30 to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work during regular delivery hours(Monday – Friday 7:00am – 2:00 pm)
  • Ability to work occasional Sunday or holiday shifts as needed
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Salary Range

$16.25
