Job Summary
Project Angel Food prepares and delivers healthy meal to people impacted by serious illness, bringing comfort and hope every day. Our drivers are responsible for delivering these meals to over 2,300 clients every week in throughout Los Angeles County.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver meals to clients on all routes that have been assigned
- Communicating with dispatch manager, supervisors and client services department any problems with routes, deliveries and reporting client concerns.
- Keep accurate records of meals, mileage, hours and other Dispatch paperwork
- Performing basic van and equipment maintenance.
- Following the best practices for safety, both on the road and while loading and unloading the van.
- Counts, measures, and sort materials and products.
- Removes defective products or materials, placing them in specified areas for handling.
- Examines containers, products, and materials for quality control and ensures packing requirements are met.
- Marks and labels containers, container tags, labels, or products.
- Enters packing, order, and product information in or on required forms, records, or other documents.
- Stacks Foam boxes.
- Loads products and materials into foam boxes, bags and carts.
- Transports packages to customer’s vehicles, loading areas, or other specified zones.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Abilities, Skills, and Qualifications
- Valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, proof of insurance, experience driving and reliable transportation.
- Excellent vision and hand-eye coordination to stay safe while driving.
- Excellent knowledge of Los Angeles County and familiarity with using navigation systems.
- Knowledge of how to handle materials, such as food or items.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Sensitivity to persons suffering with various critical illnesses.
- Time management to ensure deliveries are made and meal and materials are packed.
- Ability to sit for extended periods, walk long distances and regularly lift or move items up to 30 to 50 pounds.
- Ability to assess products for quality compliance.
- Basic understanding of principles and processes of customer service.
- Ability to work during regular delivery hours (Monday – Friday 7:00 am – 3:00 pm or later).
- Ability to work occasional Sunday or holiday shifts as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
