I’ve always been a big believer in celebrating fives and zeros. Of course, celebrate the years in between – after all, I don’t wish to take away the success of another trip around the sun – but it’s those five-year benchmarks that really feel worthy of celebrating a bit more than usual.
But when you have a five and a zero together – only once in your life – I believe it’s necessary to celebrate the entire year.
As a silent supporter of Project Angel Food (PAF)over the past decade, I rarely discussed publicly my contributions to the organization. However, it was PAF’s response to the recent wildfires that inspired me to become a bit more visible. As many of you know, I LOVE food. I love to eat it, I love to cook it and I love to share it. So it should come as no surprise that an organization created to bring cooked meals to those in need was a calling.
Los Angeles has supported me over the past 27 years. I couldn’t have more respect and appreciation for the city. PAF has supported the city of Los Angeles for the past 36 years.
Colleagues, friends and family continue to ask how I plan on celebrating my half a century of being alive. Well, I can’t think of any better way to celebrate than with an organization that has provided for so many in a city that has meant so much to me. I was honored when asked to be Co-Chair of this year’s annual Garden Gala and I’m even more honored to ask my colleagues, friends and family to celebrate with me by contributing some 5’s and 0’s to Project Angel Food in honor of my turning 50.
Thank you so much in advance. Here’s to the next 50 – hopefully, it’ll include more time, laughter and memoires with all of you. Xo, Brent
