Victor Cortes
Vice President, Business Development Officer at PNC Bank

For the past seven years, I have spent my energies and given my primary focus to my career. As I have reflected on my professional successes, I have also been reminded of where I come from.

Having lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for several years during my childhood, I saw first-hand that food is medicine, food is love, food nourishes the soul, and most importantly, food is welcoming and gives a sense of community. I have witnessed poverty and struggle in all forms and know how important and what a difference a meal makes in someone’s life, especially those facing critical illness and for those in less fortunate minority communities.

I believe it is the right time for me to start giving back. I want to contribute to the growth of a caring, compassionate, and respected organization like Project Angel food. My status as a young, gay, minority professional allows me to bring a unique perspective, and potentially many new supporters to the organization.

Over the last few years, I have volunteered at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House and Santa Monica Boys and Girls Club on numerous occasions. I organized a corporate team at PNC Bank in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, raising the second largest contribution in Los Angeles for the event in 2018. I have also donated many thousands of dollars to several organizations, including Project Angel Food, The Los Angeles LGBT Center, Downtown Los Angeles Women’s Center, and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). I have attended fundraising events for Project Angel Food, The Los Angeles LGBT Center, Downtown Los Angeles Women’s Center, Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy, and National Jewish Health.

I am a Vice President and Business Development Officer at PNC Bank, where I provide corporate banking, and M&A financing to middle market and large Corporate Private Equity backed Companies. I previously manage a portfolio of roughly $700,000,000 across several industries and work very closely with their owners and executive team. Prior to joining PNC Bank, I was an Associate within the Capital Finance Team of Wells Fargo Bank. As I was able to leverage the Wells Fargo Foundation to support causes important to me, I am fortunate to have the support of PNC Bank’s commitment to match donations as well.
