In case you missed it, Project Angel Food volunteer and star of Criminal Minds, Kirsten Vangsness joined Executive Director Richard Ayoub Project Angel Food’s Night of Gratitude & Song livestream event Sunday, November 22. By popular demand, here is the encore performance for your viewing pleasure.
Project Angel Food’s Night of Gratitude & Song was produced as a way to give back to all the frontline workers, volunteers, donors and sponsors who have worked tirelessly to keep Project Angel Food’s doors open during the challenges of the pandemic. Since March of 2020, Project Angel Food has grown from serving 1,500 to 2,300 critically ill people per day as COVID-19 continues to ravage this vulnerable population. That is an increase of 54%.
Over $220,000 for Project Angel Good was raised during the show and in the silent auction that accompanied it. “This is enough to fund our adopt-a-chef program for eight months to get us through winter,” an ecstatic Ayoub told the audience. He hosted the show from the Project Angel Food kitchen, while the funny, flawless and unflappable Kirsten hosted from home. During the livestream they read social media comments from as far away as Australia and the Netherlands.
The event included Adam Lambert featuring his song Feel Something. Glamberts represented, with Project Angel Food apron autographed by Adam going to the highest bidder for $1,500. In the message, Adam explained is participation, “When I heard all that Project Angel Food was doing during the pandemic for people living with life-threatening illnesses in general, but more specifically for our trans brothers and sisters, LGBTQ+ seniors, people living with HIV/AIDS, and LGBTQ+ people of color; I wanted to get move involved.”
Megan Hilty was a fan favorite, performing “For Good” from Wicked and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” with her husband Brian Gallagher on the guitar. Skylar Astin (Pitch Perfect, Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist), Juan Pablo Di Pace (Dashing in December, Fuller House), Ava Maybee (Lay Low), Thelma Houston (Grammy winner), Lisa Rinna (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Michael Nouri (Yellowstone), celebrity auctioneer Gabriel Butu, and Brad Garrett (Everybody Loves Raymond) also appeared. Brad Garrett’s segment is a laugh-a-second tour of Project Angel Food kitchen.
Also featured in the program was a sneak peek of the Amazon Original Movie Uncle Frank starring Paul Bettany, directed by Oscar-winner Alan Ball, premiering on Amazon Thanksgiving Day. Uncle Frank and Amazon’s LGBTQ+ group Glamazon are sponsoring Project Angel Food’s Thanksgiving Day event. Eighteen hundred meals will be delivered to people who are homebound, dealing with life-threatening illnesses.
