Honorary Chair China Chow along with Actress Jane Lynch and Project Angel Food Founder Marianne Williamson Shared Inspiring Stories
Los Angeles, CA (June 25, 2018) – On Saturday, June 23, Project Angel Food raised over $400,000 in much needed funds at their 23rd annual Angel Art fundraiser to support its mission in delivering free nutritious meals with love to clients affected by life-threatening illnesses throughout Los Angeles (see photos here). Thanks to the generous donations from all artists, sponsors and over 350 attendees and donors, the annual event was a huge success. Project Angel Food’s 2018 Angel Art honorary chair China Chow and Executive Director Richard Ayoub kicked off Project Angel Food’s contemporary art auction at NeueHouse Hollywood with a message of thanks. Founder Marianne Williamson then took the stage and ignited 350 guests to remember that in trying times like today, Project Angel Food and California lead the way in caring for and providing love to those in need.
Hollywood Game Night’s Jane Lynch presented iconic artist, advocate and Project Angel Food volunteer Catherine Opie with the 2018 Angel Artist Award. In her acceptance, Opie acknowledged delivering Project Angel Food meals from its first kitchen in a West Hollywood church. “My friends and I delivered meals to the very sick and I remember their gratitude, the fight goes on,” Opie shared.
Over 60 lots were auctioned off both online and live. Gabriel Butu of Mulholland Auctions was the night’s auctioneer. All pieces of art were donated from the artists to help raise funds, including works from Catherine Opie, David Hockney, Ed Ruscha, Sage Vaughn, Alexandra Grant, Anthony Pearson, Alma Allen, Antonio Lopez, Shio Kusaka and Herb Ritts.
Attendees included Jane Lynch, Catherine Opie, Marianne Williamson, Charlie Sheen, Julia Stambler, Sharon Lawrence, Chef Stuart O’Keeffe, Molly Shannon, and Thomas Dekker.
Since the very first year of Angel Art, internationally celebrated artists have created and presented works for auction with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the free meal delivery program at Project Angel Food. Angel Art is the preeminent contemporary art auction in Los Angeles and has raised more than $10.9 million for Project Angel Food, helping to provide millions of meals for thousands of men, women, and children facing life threatening-illnesses.
