Project Angel Food will hold its third annual garden party on Sunday March 25, 2018 from 4 pm – 7 pm at an exclusive private residence in the Hollywood Hills, featuring a special performance by the legendary Broadway diva Jennifer Holliday, including her electrifying rendition of “And I Am Telling You I’m not Going”, which won her 1982 Tony Award as Best Leading Actress in a Musical for “Dreamgirls.”

Celebrities slated to attend include John Barrowman (Arrow), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Claws), Charlie Carver (“Boys In The Band”), Bruno Tonioli (Dancing With The Stars), Sharon Lawrence (Shameless, Queen Sugar) supermodel Cheryl Tiegs, Christos Garkinos (Dukes of Melrose) Boxer Claude Staten Jr., Instagram Star Kyle Krieger, KNBC-TV anchorman Robert Kovacik, Lawrence Zarian, The Fashion Guy, Extreme Makeover Home Edition’s Michael Moloney and Celebrity Chef Stuart O’Keefe.

Several elected officials are also attending the party including: LA City Council Members Mitch O’Farrell and David Ryu and West Hollywood City Council Member Lauren Meister.

Project Angel Food has a goal to raise $125,000, which translates into 25,000 meals for needy clients.

The specially invited guest list will be invited to join the Project Angel Food Circle of Angels, which consists of donors who give $1,500 a year or more to the organization.  The host committee has underwritten the event, which means all the money raised will go directly to the charity.

The glamorous cocktail party is given in a lush, spectacular garden setting and will include an exciting auction which will benefit Project Angel Food. Among the prizes a package including round trip for two from Los Angeles to New York on Alaska Airlines plus hotel stay, a private backstage tour with Charlie Carver one of the stars of the new, all-star Broadway production of “Boys in the Band” and two tickets to see the legendary production “Hamilton.” Also up for grabs, celebrity chef Stuart O’Keefe will create a special sit-down dinner for twenty in the Project Angel Food kitchen. Sheryl Lee Ralph agreed to bartend and Cheryl Tiegs volunteered to be a server for the swanky dinner.

Jennifer Holliday is an iconic Broadway star; she landed her first big role on Broadway in “Your Arms Too Short to Box with God” and then went on to create the role of Effie White in Dreamgirls”. Besides the Tony Award, she won a Grammy for her recorded version of “And I am Telling You I’m Not Going”

Jennifer is an accomplished recording artist and gospel singer and has appeared on many primetime television shows.

Since 1989, Project Angel Food has prepared and delivered more than 11 million meals — currently 11,000 per week — free of charge to men, women and children living with critical illnesses. Project Angel Food expanded its initial mission from serving people living with HIV/AIDS to include medically tailored meals, prepared by the staff and volunteers, for those combatting cancer, kidney failure, diabetes, congestive heart disease and other illnesses. The mission has always remained intact, to feed and nourish the sick, by delivering healthy, nutritious meals throughout 4,400 square miles of LA County. More than 97% of Project Angel Food clients are living below the poverty level, and Project Angel Food is their lifeline, filling a vital need in all communities. The client demographics are testimony to this: 37% Latino, 29% African-American, 22% Caucasian, 6% Asian/Pacific Islander, 1% Native American and 5% Multicultural.
