2019 has started off with a bang for Project Angel Food’s pilot program for Medi-Cal beneficiaries with Congestive Heart Failure!
Bruce, our latest graduate, says the program has helped him out—not only with food access, but also with increased awareness about making healthy diet choices. Now, he reads food labels and knows what a healthy portion looks like. He’s also lost 17 lbs., and plans to continue on that path so he can pass a fitness test to become a longshoreman. Bruce’s story is a testament to the life-changing work we’re doing with the California Food is Medicine Coalition, and we’re so thrilled to share it!
By showing we can cut health care costs AND improve health outcomes, Project Angel Food is working toward a future in which this vital service can be a permanent offering to the most vulnerable residents of Los Angeles County and beyond. To learn more about our CHF program, visit angelfood.org/chf
