UPDATE as of 4/1/2020
We are delighted to share (now that we can!) that Duff Takes the Cake was also on-site to celebrate our volunteers and film an episode for Season 2. Duff and his team used their master skills to design an epic life-size angel cake for our deserving, good-hearted volunteers who serve their community by lovingly preparing, packaging, and delivering free nutritious food to our most vulnerable neighbors. To see the cake, tune in to Food Network for a special sneak peek on Sunday, May 3rd at 10pm ET/PT and remaining new episodes will premiere Mondays at 10pm ET/PT beginning May 4th.
On February 6th, we hosted a cocktail party and awards ceremony celebrating volunteers who have devoted 20 years (or more) of service at Project Angel Food. The event kicked off with a warm welcome from Executive Director Richard Ayoub and included congratulatory remarks from longtime Project Angel Food supporters, Janet & Eric McCormack. Volunteers enjoyed drinks and appetizers whipped up by Project Angel Food chefs while reconnecting with, or meeting, other volunteers, staff and supporters. A presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation by Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell and Richard Ayoub followed. Volunteers were thrilled by the announcement that a commemorative plaque would be installed in the volunteer lounge to honor them and their selfless commitment to the men, women, and children we serve. Each long-time volunteer will be acknowledged on an individual plaque emblazoned with their name and the Project Angel Food angel. The plaques will have pride of place in the volunteer lounge, adjacent to the Project Angel Food kitchen, where many of our volunteers have spent countless hours, preparing medically-tailored meals for our most vulnerable neighbors.
Honorees include: Gayle Anderson, Nicole Arbusto, Paris Barclay, Robert Bauer, Stacy Bauer, Alex Boling, David Bowers, Robin Bram, Rod Carter, Bert Champagne, Diane Chen, Carol Coben, David Couper, Robert Desiderio, Patricia Firestone, Margaret Gascoigne, Stephen Gatta, Beth Goldfarb Jackson, Greg Gorden, Herbert Gore, Peter Gurski, Helen Jordan, David Kessler, Susie Kim, Frank Knittel, Kimberly Light, Diane Locklear, Michael Maloney, Mark Margolis, Mose Marseille, Eric McCormack, Janet McCormack, Melissa McGriff, John McIlwee, Deborah McLeod, Hara Melillo, Dina Morales, Charles Mujica, Thao Nguyen, Esthella Provas, Richard Pucci, Ed Rada, Tim Robinson, Lisa Rosen, Howard Rosenman, Sharon Rosner, Arlene Ruiz, Marc Saltarelli, Kay Salz, Hatsue Schmitt, Charlie Steffens, Daniel Walters, John Weaver, Freddie Weber, Susan West, and Marianne Williamson
