Project Angel Food is 80% volunteer driven and we simply could not do it without you.

Delivering Meals

Jump in the driver’s seat!

As a volunteer driver, you will spend about an hour per delivery shift delivering meals to people affected by HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses. You'll use your own vehicle to make deliveries to a prepared route of 6 to 8 Project Angel Food clients.

Delivery volunteers pick up meals and route sheets at the Project Angel Food kitchen or one of the drop-off sites throughout Los Angeles between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Delivery routes generally take about an hour to complete from start to finish.

If you would like to be a driver, you will need to provide a copy of your valid Driver's License, your current auto liability insurance (minimum coverage required by state law) and your DMV record.  The record should have been printed within the past 3 months, and there should be less than 3 violations within the past 3 years.  If you would like to start the process for requesting your DMV record, CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE DMV WEBSITE for the form and instructions.

Preparing Meals

Some like it hot!

As a kitchen volunteer, you'll help prepare and package hot and frozen meals, assist with cooking and baking, and perform other tasks in the Project Angel Food kitchen, such as chopping, mixing, scooping, and stirring. Project Angel Food provides a variety of meals to best meet the nutritional needs of our clients. No cooking expertise is needed; all you need is a smile and a helping hand.

Assisting in the Office

The Project Angel Food office needs help with various clerical tasks. As an office volunteer, you will help with filing, data entry, photocopying and other miscellaneous office tasks. Office volunteers are on an "as needed" basis Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Event Volunteers

You can support Project Angel Food's Special Events Department by assisting with a variety of fundraising events. Volunteers help out with an array of events such as a concert, auction or fashion show on a "one-time" basis.

Outreach

Do you like speaking in front of groups or with individuals one-on-one? Would you like to tell others about the volunteer and charitable opportunities at Project Angel Food? Frequently, Project Angel Food is invited to stores, restaurants, clubs, career and volunteer fairs, and civic groups to talk about the good work we do and to recruit new volunteers. Outreach volunteers often work in teams and attend community events to help raise awareness about our services.

We will provide you with outreach materials about Project Angel Food, so that you will feel completely comfortable. This is a great way to keep your public speaking skills polished, while spreading the Project Angel Food message at the same time.
