Project Angel Food > Clients > Client Services

Project Angel Food believes that you must nurture the spirit as well as the body to truly improve the health of someone living with HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. We rely on the generosity of our donors to help us find opportunities for our clients that will enrich their lives and bring a smile to their face!

Thanks to our donors, we have sent clients and client families to a variety of theatrical events. In the past few years clients and families have experienced The Lion King, Wicked, Peter Pan, The Producers and Annie. These evenings at the theater have brought joy to clients and their families, many of whom had never been to a live theater performance before.

Every year, nearly 100 clients and their children spend the day at Disneyland! This exciting adventure is possible thanks to our generous donors.

During the holidays Project Angel Food gives out 1065 Thanksgiving gift bags and 1130 Christmas Gifts to our clients, and 184 children who live in our client’s households received toys. On behalf of our clients we extend a big thanks to those who contributed to and organized toy drives last fall!

These events and others are so very important to Project Angel Food’s clients and support our mission to nourish the body and spirit of the people we serve. Thank you to all the special donors and volunteers who make this possible.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of donor Olivia Newton-John our Project Angel Food clients were able to see the last performance of GREASE at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Our clients had a wonderful time and enjoyed the show tremendously.

Thanks to the generousity of Eric and Janet McCormack along with Nick Hess, Project Angel Food was able to take a 100 clients to watch the broadway smash hit Wiked on March 16th. Below are just a few of the comments/thank yous from the people we touched through a night out on the town.

Beatrix, a 69-year-old client living with scoliosis and arthritis, called to thank us so much for inviting her to see Wicked last night at The Pantages Theater.  Beatrix was an avid theatergoer when she was young but due to her arthritis she had not seen a live play or musical in 20 years.  She thought the production was superb, funny and moving.  Beatrix said thank you to CS staff for thinking of her and a big thank you to our wonderful donors Eric and Janet McCormack and Nick Hess for buying the tickets.  Beatrix began crying when she thought of Eric and Janet and Nick's wonderful generosity.  She couldn’t believe that we not only bring her nutritious and delicious meals but we also invite her to the theater as well.  God bless everyone.

A client named John called to say he had a wonderful time seeing "Wicked" at the Pantages Theatre on Sunday.  He wanted to thank Eric McCormack and his wife and Nick Hess for their generosity.  He thanked us at Project Angel Food for thinking of him, and said it was nice to see Client Services staff there.  He wants everyone to know how grateful he is that he was able to attend.

A new client, Rudolph, sent a Thank You card which read, "Dear Project Angel Food, Many thanks for the tickets to Wicked. Great show. Great time. Regards, Rudolph

Stacie, a long-term client with MS, sent a thank you card which read:   Dear Tom, Maria and all of the people who care about me so much at Project Angel Food,

My husband and family want to thank you so much again for the beautiful night out at the fantastic play WICKED.  My dad hasn’t gotten out much since he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, so when I saw tears rolling down his face during the show----nothing could have meant more.  You guys are the most giving, tireless and selfless people I have ever met.  You have helped so many, including myself and my mother before she passed on.  I have enclosed a small donation.  The writers strike hit our family hard, but things should be better now.  Thank you again.  I love you.  Keep doing what you are doing.  You are always in my prayers.

All my love,
Stacie

Dan, our Angel Awards client, sent a thank you card which read, "Dear Tom, it was really great to finally meet you in person. Thank you so much for the opportunity to see WICKED. The music was good, the sets exceptional and the witches had their own charm! In a word, it was delightful---especially when one observed the reaction of the children in the audience to the performers. They were in awe. Again, thank to everyone in client services and to your donors who bought the tickets for an unforgettable evening."

Sharon, a long-term client and former Board member, sent a thank you card which read, "Thank you for the tickets to Wicked. My family had a WONDERFUL time. I love you guys and without you I would never have been able to go."

We've recently expanded our Breakfast Program and as you can see below, we're getting rave reviews. Raymond, a client of 7 years, called to say, thank you so much for adding the breakfast bag.  Raymond is very, very thankful for the extra nutrition. The breakfast bag is especially helpful because he has to get up early to take medications and he needs food in his stomach first. Thanks to our breakfast food he can keep his meds down and keep his weight up. He truly doesn't know what he would do without us.  Raymond is a 50-year-old client living with AIDS.
