As one of the most effective grassroots nonprofit agencies in the nation, Project Angel Food cooks and delivers over 500,000 nutritious meals each year, free of charge, to the homes of men, women, and children affected by life-threatening illnesses. Our vital food and nutrition services, including medically tailored meals and nutritional counseling, help underserved people throughout LA County who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Created in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we expanded our mission in 2004 to help our neighbors who are struggling with any life-threatening illness burdened by hunger and malnutrition. We deliver more than 10,000 meals every week to people in need...for Life, for Love, for as long as it takes.
Fighting Diseases with Nutrition and Hope
The nutritious meals we deliver can be the difference between spiraling illness and healing with dignity for the thousands of people we serve daily. At Project Angel Food we believe that food is medicine and we strive to not only combat hunger but to assist in the improvement of our client's overall health with healthy, nutritious, and delicious meals cooked in our kitchen six days a week. Directed by a staff of dietitians and professional chefs our meals are the perfect component to getting them back on to improving their health.
We Are Our Community
From the kitchen of a small church in West Hollywood, a group of caring friends came together in 1989 to provide meals to their neighbors who were literally starving while fighting a range of devastating life-threatening illnesses. Project Angel Food is a grassroots agency -- an extension of the concern we have for our most vulnerable fragile neighbors who are dealing with one of the most intense and frightening experiences one can know. Our dedicated corps of 3,600+ volunteers of all ages, generous donors and caring friends help us save thousands of precious lives throughout Los Angeles County.
